A message from Dr. Tonia

During my time as a Registrar in Emergency Medicine (the best and most chaotic specialty, hands down), I created a series of OSCE stations to help me prepare for the real thing. These were based on real cases I’d seen or debriefed after the fact, and something must have worked, because I passed the exam on my first attempt.

Anatomy of an OSCE

Each OSCE station includes three key parts: a candidate brief, actor instructions, and a marking guide out of 10. I used these to train myself and others, and I’ve had great feedback from the trainees I’ve practiced with over the years.

In the spirit of FOAMed, I’ve published these stations online to help others preparing for ACEM exams. You’ll also find:

  • SAQs with model answers, grouped by system.
  • Practice questions to reinforce key clinical knowledge.
  • A dedicated section for interns with cheat sheets, tips, and survival strategies.
